Presentation Layer(Layer 6)

Ø  Responsible for defining a standard format for the data.

Ø  It deals with data presentation i.e. Before sending any traffic, it will tell in which format our data has to be sent.

Ø  Encoding – Decoding:

·  Ex: ASCII,EBCDIC (Text)

·  JPEG,GIF,TIFF (Graphics)

·  WAV,MP3 (Voice)

·  MPEG,DAT,AVI,MP4 (Video)                

Ø  Encryption – Decryption:

·  Ex: DES,3-DES,AES

Ø  Compression – Decompression:

·  Ex: Predictor, Stacker, MPPC
